Hey Karolina, can you tell us where are you from?
I am from Olsztyn, a small but picturesque city located in the Northern part of Poland.
What is your background?
I am a Constructing Architecture student at VIA University College in Aarhus. Imoved to Denmark 3 years ago and still find this country inspiring and surprising! In my spare time I try to work hard to transform my dream of becoming an artist into reality. I love drawing and painting, especially landscapes and people.
When did you start drawing/painting?
It all begun while I was attending primary school. At that time I signed up for drawing classes.
Initially I just wanted to spend more time with my best friend but the more time I spent there, the more fascinated and involved I became.
I started to use every free hour on creating my own little masterpieces.
When I grew older I decided to take professional architectural drawing course, which opened the possibility to study at the most renowned architecture schools.
What was the project that you enjoyed the most?
I once got a chance to create a logo for one of Danish amateur bands called "The Mechanical Wing".
I had to create a drawing that would make the name obvious but also that would express the type of music they were playing. Later on it became part of their whole merchandising, t-shirts and leaflets. I must say that it all turned out pretty cool and I'm proud of that work.
What do you think is the biggest challenge for a painter/artist in the 21st Century?
The 21st century suffers from the overdose of information that is imposed on people by social media. It is very hard nowadays to come up with something original, something that would surprise people but at the same time keep the artist within her/his own field.
Why did you decide to join Aarhus Makers?
Why not? :) I want to make the most out of my stay here and I think that this a great opportunity to do that.
What piece of advice would you give to anybody that wants to become a painter?
Practise, practise and practise cause it is the only possible way to develop yourself.
